Mallorcan businessman Miquel Gual buys Font Teix
The businessman, majority shareholder of Font Mallorca, takes control of the bottling company to consolidate the brand and open new markets from the Tramuntana mountain range.
PalmMallorcan businessman Miquel Gual, majority shareholder of Font Mallorca, has acquired the Font Teix bottling plant and assumed control with the aim of strengthening the island's water-related industrial activity. With this acquisition, Gual—who has over four decades of experience in the sector—is committed to maintaining and consolidating the bottling plant, in a strategy focused on preserving a resource he considers strategic for Mallorca. According to a company statement, the move reflects a desire to reinforce the island's productive and food sovereignty and to generate added value beyond the coastal areas. Gual is also president of the Sóller and Camp Mallorquí Agricultural Cooperative and vice president of the Oli de Mallorca Protected Designation of Origin. He also serves on the permanent board of the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium.
From now on, the businessman will assume the marketing and distribution of Font Teix water, with the intention of consolidating the brand in the island market and progressively exploring new markets. The goal is to leverage logistical experience and industry knowledge to improve coordination between production and distribution, strengthen operational efficiency, and increase responsiveness to demand.
"This transaction ensures the continuity and development of such a strategic resource as water for Mallorca," Gual stated. He emphasized that Font Mallorca's support in marketing will facilitate the opening of new markets, boost the Font Teix plant, and provide customers with access to quality water at an affordable price.
The alliance with the local distributor also aims to optimize transportation and reduce the environmental footprint of the operation, consistent with a development model that prioritizes respect for the natural environment of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, where the plant is located.
