PalmaThe Museum of Footwear and Industry of Inca has officially joined the International Council of Museums (ICOM), a global organization dedicated to the development of museums and sector professionals. The Inca City Council pointed out this Monday that the accession represents recognition of the museum's work in the conservation, research, and dissemination of heritage related to the history of footwear and the city's industry. The incorporation will also allow for the establishment of links with an international network of museums and professionals to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices.

"Being part of ICOM is a very significant milestone for our museum," highlighted the mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno, who stressed that local centers linked to the territory, citizenship, and collective memory "have much to contribute to the world."

This body, created in 1946, brings together thousands of museums and professionals from more than a hundred countries. Among its objectives are protecting cultural and natural heritage, promoting professional standards, and fostering the social function of museums as open, inclusive, and participatory spaces, the City Council recalled. For the Inca Museum, membership represents an opportunity to strengthen research and dissemination projects and to drive new collaborations at national and international level.
