PalmMore than two hundred people mobilized this Wednesday to demand the construction of a new center for CEIPIEEM Son Serra, in a protest called by the parents' association (AFA) to demand a public and scheduled commitment from the Ministry of Education.

The families denounce that, despite the conversations held with the Administration, there is no official announcement about the future of the center. In this regard, they reproach Councilor Antoni Vera that, after a recent visit in which he would have expressed his support, he has announced the creation of new centers inspired by this model without specifying any action for Son Serra.

The main demand is the lack of space to develop the educational project in adequate conditions. According to the AFA, this need has been repeatedly recognized by the Administration during the last decade. Given the unviability of an expansion, the families advocate for the construction of a new center and recall that there is a plot of land designated for educational use about 600 meters from the current school.

The families warn that the educational project —the only fully integrated public music center in the Balearic Islands and recognized at the state level— is conditioned by the lack of infrastructure. They consider that, while the Ministry promotes this model in other places, it does not guarantee the necessary resources to consolidate it in the center that has promoted it.

In this context, they criticize the delays, administrative difficulties, and lack of concrete decisions, and express the fear that the commitments made will not materialize. The mobilization has ended with a clear demand directed at the Administration: the immediate construction of a new center.
