PalmaThe UOB union denounces that the Department of Education has modified the end-of-year calendar for the second year of Baccalaureate with the school year already underway and has brought forward the deadline for publishing grades. According to the union in a statement, the start-of-year instructions published last June established that the records for the ordinary evaluation of the second year of Baccalaureate could be closed, at the latest, until May 21, 2027, at 3:00 p.m. Now, however, the Department has set May 13, 2027, as the deadline for the publication of grades.
UOB criticizes that this change has been introduced once the school year has begun, when teachers have already prepared their syllabi and schools have informed families about the organization of the academic year. The union considers that the modification alters the initially foreseen conditions and questions whether it responds to pedagogical criteria.
For UOB, the decision reflects a way of managing the educational calendar that introduces modifications during the school year without sufficiently assessing the impact they may have on schools, teaching staff, and students. The union also criticizes other decisions adopted by the Department during recent academic years, such as moving the first-year Baccalaureate recovery exams to June, which were traditionally held in September, and the advancement of teacher selection processes.
