Former Vox deputies accuse Cañadas of "diverting" money from the parliamentary group to Abascal's foundation.

Ribas asserts that the party leader is interested in "making a fortune" through this mechanism.

PalmFormer Vox spokesperson in Parliament, Idoia Ribas, revealed this Thursday that she had been pressured to "divert huge amounts of money" from the parliamentary group to the party. She also stated that one of the first decisions of the current spokesperson (who replaced her), Manuela Cañadas, was to increase the group's holdings in the party from 10% to 50%, behind her back and without the deputies' authorization. These resources, she said, ultimately end up in the Disenso Foundation, a tool of the party leader, Santiago Abascal, to "make a fortune." For Ribas, Abascal's true interest is "to accumulate public money in the Disenso Foundation," of which he has become "president for life."

Accompanied by fellow former Vox MP Agustín Buades and Maite de Medrano, the party's former island councilor in Menorca, Ribas made these accusations in response to the attack leveled at her yesterday by the party's secretary general. Garriga accused the dissidents of "disguising themselves as Vox" to pursue "PP or left-wing policies," as well as of being involved in "regrettable" incidents in Parliament. In a press conference reported by Europa Press, Ribas, who is currently an unaffiliated MP, called these criticisms "intolerable."

The leader of the dissident sector has accused Cañadas of maneuvering to force an early election in April 2024 and has claimed to have messages from him in which he expressed the intention of Vox's national leadership to undermine the investiture agreement with the PP. "Vox's intention was not to advance policies, but rather to undermine the legislature," he stressed. According to his account, the dissidents' opposition to this strategy led to pressure and, subsequently, a "purge" by the party leadership, which ultimately resulted in Vox losing three deputies. The third in the group, Xisco Cardona, did not appear at the press conference or comment on these claims.
