PalmA tougher stance against squatters and undocumented immigrants. The People's Party (PP) and Vox have once again reached an agreement on these issues to present amendments to the Law on Strategic Projects. They have thus agreed to finalize the creation of the Anti-Employment Office, an agency already included in the budget at Vox's behest. Furthermore, they will also introduce into this law the requirement of a minimum of three years of uninterrupted legal residency to access guaranteed social income, thereby excluding recent arrivals and undocumented immigrants.

This is how the spokespeople for Vox and the PP in the Balearic Parliament, Manuela Cañadas and Sebastià Sagreras, respectively, explained it. These agreements should facilitate the approval of the PP's bill. However, both parties also submitted separate amendments, without the guaranteed support of the other party. Thus, Vox requested that local police be allowed to use Taser guns to subdue violent criminals, and that municipalities reserve up to 20% of the positions in this force for enlisted personnel and sailors who reach the age of 45. They also demanded the creation of the category of General Health Psychologist in Primary Care to reduce waiting lists for mental health services, and submitted an amendment to ensure that place names in the Balearic Islands are written in Spanish.

For its part, the PP presented a package of tax cuts to facilitate access to housing and the renewal of rental contracts. Although the far right has not guaranteed its support for these proposals, Sagreras said it would be "very difficult to understand" if Santiago Abascal's party did not support them.

The left criticizes the measures: "They go to church afterward."

Both the PSIB (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands) and MÁS per Mallorca and Més per Menorca have rejected the amendments agreed upon between the PP (People's Party) and Vox. "The PP is giving in on all these policies of hatred, exclusion, and lack of solidarity," said Josep Castells, a representative of the Menorcan party. "Of course, everyone will be at Mass on Sunday." For his part, the deputy spokesperson for the PSIB, Marc Pons, considered the requirement of three years of legal residency to access social assistance "punishes the most vulnerable." "They like to despise and punish those who are most in need," he lamented.
