PP and Vox demand the repatriation of all irregular immigrants
The president assures that 90% of the agreements have already been executed and accuses the far-right of obstruction
PalmNew onslaught by PP and Vox against the extraordinary regularization of immigrants. The two parties voted this Tuesday in favor of a non-law proposal (PNL) rejecting this measure promoted by the government of Spain, which could affect some 30,000 residents in the Islands. The text also demands the "repatriation of all immigrants who enter illegally" to Spain, and also that of unaccompanied minors, as well as the "deportation of any immigrant, legal or illegal, who commits serious crimes or makes petty crime their way of life".
The text, driven by Vox and which has obtained PP's support on most points, also urges the Spanish government to "eliminate subsidies to associations, organizations, foundations or NGOs that promote or facilitate illegal immigration and human trafficking in any way". In parallel, they demand that "development cooperation be suspended with any country that does not cooperate in the management of migratory flows".
Prohens accuses Vox of "not complying" with the pacts
The president of the Government, Marga Prohens, assured this Tuesday that before summer "all agreements" for the budgets with Vox "will be fulfilled", including the limitation of aid to immigrants and the outright rejection of receiving unaccompanied foreign minors from the State's distribution. During the control session of Parliament, the Popular Party member defended having carried out all the demands made by the far-right. In this regard, she has put the ball in Vox's court: "They will have to choose whether to continue being part of the solution, or if they remain in the blockade by order of Bambú", referring to Vox's headquarters in Madrid.
"We are fulfilling our agreements," Prohens defended: "Last November we considered 90% of the points fulfilled, and those that depended on legislative modifications are now being processed." She thus reproached Vox for voting against the anti-crisis decree, which went ahead thanks to the PSIB. "You are the ones who have broken agreements," she said: "You will decide whether to continue blocking aid to farmers and fishermen, to construction, whether to continue blocking tax cuts or facilitate change".
Vox: "The educational system is controlled by MÉS"
The president made these statements in response to a question from the Vox spokesperson, Manuela Cañadas, about one of the points of the pact, which consisted of "promoting" adherence to the pilot plan for free choice of language in schools. "The education system is totally controlled by MÉS," Cañadas snapped. For Vox, the fact that the Government has left the implementation of the plan in the hands of "the autonomy of the schools" has doomed the initiative, since most of the management teams have not wanted to join voluntarily. As the president indicated, there are currently 19 schools adhering to the pilot plan. "As we agreed in 2023, this adherence is voluntary and, therefore, the final decision rests with the schools," Prohens expressed.
