PalmThe National Police has arrested a man in Palma accused of allegedly mistreating his minor children after one of the children asked for help from their school and recounted the situation they were experiencing at home.

The events came to light in mid-April, when the school transferred the information to the Unit for Attention to the Family and Woman (UFAM) due to suspicion of possible episodes of violence within the family.

According to the National Police, the minor explained that his siblings, still very young, suffered habitual aggressions from their father. He himself would also have been a victim of mistreatment in the past, although he stated that he was currently no longer receiving blows.

During his statement, the child recounted that the father used any object he found in the home to hit them, such as shoes or belts, and that these aggressions were repeated continuously.

After receiving the alert from the educational center, the agents initiated an investigation to clarify the facts and gather information about the case. Once the initial inquiries were completed, UFAM proceeded last Tuesday to the arrest of the father as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of mistreatment within the family.

The intervention of the minor and the school has been key to uncovering a situation that, according to the investigation, affected several children within the family nucleus.
