Sa PoblaThe People's Party (PP) of Sa Pobla will bring a motion to the next municipal plenary session, scheduled for this Thursday, demanding that residents of the municipality have real priority access to public housing developments built by the Balearic Housing Institute (Ibavi) in the town. The proposal calls for requiring a minimum of 15 years of registered residency to be eligible for these homes, with the aim of addressing the difficulties many young people and families in Sa Pobla face in accessing housing and developing their life plans in the municipality, as the party stated in a press release. The PP points out that the City Council has provided a municipal plot of land free of charge for the construction of a development of eight subsidized housing units and argues that this project should prioritize the town's residents. The PP believes it is necessary for the City Council to negotiate the allocation criteria for these developments with Ibavi to introduce priority based on long-standing ties to the municipality. The motion also proposes taking into account the historical census, so that the length of registration is recognized for those residents of Sa Pobla who have had to leave the town temporarily for work, training, or personal reasons. Pedrona Seguí, spokesperson for the Popular Party, emphasized that the initiative "is not exclusionary," but rather responds to "criteria of social justice," and argued that the objective is to guarantee that people who want to return to Sa Pobla have real options to do so. The proposal suggests that the connection to the municipality through the historical census should have a specific weight in the allocation criteria, combined with social and economic criteria, especially in situations of vulnerability.
