Vox opts to support the agrarian law, but will present amendments to it

PalmaFor the time being, Vox is leaning towards supporting the draft agrarian law that the Governing Council approved this Friday. Talks between this party and the PP had been deadlocked since June, but sources from the parliamentary group claim that an agreement in principle was reached last time. Santiago Abascal's party plans to approve the regulation in the Chamber, but they will also present amendments to it "to improve the text," sources from the parliamentary group assure.

The president maintained this Friday that the party has been informed at all times of the content of the preliminary draft law. This week, she made known the latest changes to the regulation to the party, which in principle views it favorably. Vox's support is key for the regulation, on which the Minister of Agriculture, Joan Simonet, has been working since the beginning of the legislature, to move forward.

The PP informed Vox of the content of the draft more than half a year ago and, at first, it seemed that they would reach an agreement. But after the Council of Mallorca decided to approve the regulation of vehicle entry without Vox, the far-right warned that it was considering overturning the agrarian law as retaliation, as published by ARA Balears. Since then, the PP had not made any approach to Vox. In fact, Government sources defended that they would approve the preliminary draft law with or without the support of the far-right. They argued that, since the draft was agreed upon with the sector, it would be "difficult" for them to refuse to ratify it in Parliament. But finally, it has opted to secure the favor of its parliamentary partner and has sent them the latest details of the regulation before elevating it to the plenary session.
