The Balearic Islands import a pepper to the State

PalmaWhen one asks, one runs the risk of being answered. And so it has been. The Balearic Islands had asked Congress to process a legislative proposal to be able to co-manage their airports, and the Ministry of the Presidency, that is, Pedro Sánchez and his team, have answered: no. And they didn't just limit themselves to saying no. They added, without batting an eyelid, the reason why: because Aena cannot lose 32 million in revenue, 8 million of which arrive in the form of profits to the State.

In other words, so that we are clear. Madrid, the State, whatever we want to call it, not only mocks the request of the citizens of the Islands to participate in the airport model, to be able to decide to what extent we are saturated and to what extent we deserve to sacrifice our natural resources and our quality of life. But, in addition, it has the nerve to claim that it does not feel like losing 8 million in profits to give the islanders a voice and a vote in the control of the gateway.

Just like that, short and sweet. It is the most brutal demonstration I remember of how the Spanish government laughs at the Islands. Obviously, we all knew that the answer would be no. But I hadn't seen it coming that they would be so brazen as to put forward an absurd and ridiculous argument.

It seems that Pedro Sánchez's government has come into the world not to take care of the Islands, but to ensure that both the State and its private capital partners within Aena cannot lose a single euro from the cash cow they have set up at the tourist airports.

Surely Marga Prohens' Government will take the opportunity to say how perverse Sánchez is. It's a pity that when her party has governed it has done the same. And I dare say it without fear: if it governs the State again, nothing will change. They don't give a damn about us.
