PalmThe Més per Menorca assembly has endorsed, with 83% of votes in favor, the party's executive committee's proposal for Sumar MÁS deputy Vicenç Vidal to leave the Sumar Plurinational Group in Congress and join the mixed group.

The proposal, promoted by the party's executive committee, is a response to the alleged cases of corruption affecting the PSOE and the "systematic failure" by the Spanish government to comply with the Menorcan agenda agreed upon at the beginning of the legislature. The decision was approved at the ordinary Més per Menorca assembly held this Saturday, in which Vidal himself participated.

By far exceeding the two-thirds qualified majority required by the party's statutes, the proposal has been formally approved. The general coordinator of Més por Menorca, Esteve Barceló, justified the decision, stating that "the people who are part of Més por Menorca have clearly expressed their opinion." "On the one hand, we cannot cover up any type of corruption; on the other, we owe it to the citizens of Menorca and we want to have our own voice, free and without subordination, to be able to denounce the lack of commitment to our island," he emphasized.

For his part, MP Vicenç Vidal assured that whatever is decided, he will continue working "with the same firmness," since "Menorca needs a clear, unapologetic, and free voice in Madrid." "Being in the Congress of Deputies allows us to denounce the contempt suffered by the people of Menorca and defend the interests of our islands more forcefully," he added, pledging to "continue working for sovereignty, environmentalism, and social justice."

Among the grievances denounced by Més por Menorca are the "lack of funding for essential infrastructure," the "lack of sensitivity" to double insularity, the "steps backward" in connectivity and the "inaction" in the face of overcrowding tourism and the housing crisis.

With this decision, Més per Menorca has reaffirmed its commitment to a policy "made from and for Menorca and critical of state parties when they do not respect agreements or attend to the specific needs of the territory."

It's worth remembering that the MÉS assembly for Mallorca postponed, just over a week ago, the decision on Vicenç Vidal's departure from the plurinational Sumar group and his possible transfer to the mixed group after a technical tie in the vote.
