PalmThe Inca City Council has presented its 2026 budget, totaling €42.6 million, a 2.02% decrease compared to this year's budget. City Hall sources emphasized that this consolidates public finances as a fundamental instrument for continuing to "drive progress, well-being, and modernization of the city." Inca's mayor, Virgilio Moreno, stated that the budget is "realistic, responsible, and committed to the people," reinforcing "what works and promoting projects that will define the city's future." The budget allocation is as follows: 44.79% for essential services—including cleaning, security, water, and street lighting—10.66% for social services, 14.36% for education, culture, and sports, 19% for general services and technical support, and almost €6 million for economic development.

In this regard, the mayor emphasizes that the 2026 budget is "much more than a set of figures," because it is the expression of a collective project that "puts people at the center, drives urban transformation, and guarantees a sustainable future for the next generations."

"Next year's budget strengthens essential services, expands municipal staff, and allocates more than four million euros to transformative investments, thus reflecting a commitment to the well-being of citizens and the modernization of public services and spaces," he argued.

Investments

Regarding investments, €1.5 million will be allocated to the renovation and beautification of the area around the Teatro Principal and the creation of a new plaza; €900,000 to expand the municipal cemetery – with 480 new niches; and €750,000 for improvements to the water cycle – including digital meters – and painting and repainting road markings. The grant programs for facade and neighborhood rehabilitation will also be maintained, with €150,000 allocated to each. In addition, €175,000 is earmarked for a new phase of purchasing shares in the CE Constancia sports complex. The budget aims to further strengthen municipal public services, with significant increases in essential contracts such as street cleaning, which rises from €2 million to €2.75 million. The budget for the summer school contract is also increased by €45,000, and the sports monitoring contract by €140,000.

Increased human resources

The budget incorporates an increase in human resources, creating new positions to improve citizen services and essential services. These include four cleaning staff positions, four early childhood educators and one teacher for the Toninaina Nursery School, one administrative assistant, and one First Class Officer for Public Services and Spaces. In addition, there are pay increases for cleaning staff and maintenance crews, as well as salary adjustments justified by new job evaluations. Current revenues grow by 7.76%, reaching 41 million euros, driven primarily by improved tax collection and increased participation in state taxes. This figure represents a 7.76% increase compared to the previous year and, in absolute terms, an amount of almost three million euros.

"For the eleventh consecutive year, the Inca City Council has maintained zero debt, allowing for stable investment planning without resorting to borrowing," the City Council stated.
