Simonet swims in Trenc to deny the lack of protection and the networks respond: "No matter how much he dresses as an environmentalist, he doesn't fool us"

PalmaThe Trenc in the background, dressed in shorts, a t-shirt, and a hat, more like a tourist than a resident, with his feet in the water. This has been the video made by the Minister of Agriculture of the Government, Joan Simonet, to defend himself against accusations of neglecting the Trenc Natural Park. The video begins with a phrase that is repeated over and over again: "Don't be fooled".

In this enumeration, he details that "the Government will not leave a single square meter of Es Trenc unprotected," and that "at Es Trenc, no hotels, no developments, no yachts, no marinas, nor anything of what is said." The most curious thing about this image is that while he is giving his speech, in the background yachts can be seen anchored a few meters from the coast. A practice that he himself says will not be allowed. The minister continues the video with a rhetorical question: "Why are we going to manage it through a decree?". He himself, shortly after, offers an answer: "Because the Nature Conservation Law says so."

However, Simonet notes on several occasions that "the decree does not imply a lack of protection" and presents a list of initiatives he has undertaken during the term to protect the natural environments and the flora and fauna of the Balearic Islands.

The responses to this staging by the Minister of Agriculture have not been long in coming, and minutes after the video was published, the ministry's social networks have already been filled with messages: "No matter how much he dresses up as an environmentalist, he doesn't fool us, fewer "eco-cool videos telling lies, people aren't stupid," a user denounced. "Liar," exclaims another user emphatically.

Others reproach him for showing off the things he has done when he has left a large part of the Archipelago completely unprotected, and they place special emphasis on Ibiza, where they note that since he has been in government, "he has done nothing".

Many users use the same phrase that Simonet used to attack him, "don't let them fool you." "Don't let them fool you, we already see what's happening with the tourists, in the Serra and on the beaches; even national television stations are reporting on it and you allow it," another user denounced.
