10,000 euro fine for abandoning a 13-year-old female dog in Ibiza

PalmaThe City Council of Ibiza has opened a sanctioning procedure, which entails a fine of 10,001 euros, for the abandonment of Kali, a 13-year-old mixed-breed dog.

According to the City Council, the dog was found in the Joveria parking lot and was taken to the Sa Coma center in 2025. This was not, however, the first time Kali had passed through municipal facilities. In 2015, she had been lost and recovered on several occasions by her owner.

As the owner of the microchip could not be located, the notification of an abandoned animal was made and the sanctioning procedure was initiated. Finally, the dog has been adopted by a woman who had previously adopted three dogs at the same center.

With this file, there are now 12 sanctions for animal abandonment registered in the municipality in recent years, with an accumulated amount of 120,000 euros. "These actions are part of the commitment of the Ibiza City Council to combat animal abandonment and promote responsible ownership," stated the Councilor for Animal Welfare of the Ibiza capital, Manuel Jiménez.

The Ibiza City Council reminds people that those who, for whatever circumstances, can no longer take care of an animal have the possibility of legally formalizing their surrender at the Sa Coma Animal Protection Center.

The City Council has also incorporated a specific button into the Green Line to report incidents related to animal welfare.
