PalmThe Governing Board has approved the contract for the service and supply of an integrated video surveillance system for Plaça d'Espanya and Estacions Park, with the aim of strengthening security in two of the city's busiest areas. The maximum budget for this tender is €138,718 (VAT included), and the contract execution period is two months.

This project will install a state-of-the-art video surveillance system that incorporates advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and video analytics. A total of 13 cameras will be installed, along with all the necessary protection and anchoring systems.

The contract also includes an image recording system and 13 licenses for video analytics and artificial intelligence.

"Citizen safety is a fundamental priority for this government team. Proof of this is the creation of new units, such as the Drone Unit and the Ecop, as well as the approval of the new civic ordinance and the creation of more Local Police positions during this term," highlighted municipal spokesperson Mercedes Celeste España, which will now be complemented by the new video surveillance system.

Furthermore, the Governing Board this Wednesday also approved the renovation work on the fencing of Les Fonts Park, in the Camp Redó neighborhood. With this second phase, which affects approximately 250 linear meters, the replacement of the park's perimeter fence will be completed.

In addition, the project to improve access and restore the natural environment of Bellver Castle has also been approved with a budget of 2.9 million euros, largely financed with funds from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS).

The Governing Board has also awarded the contract for the renovation and renaturalization of Plaza de las Maravillas in Playa de Palma, valued at €1.9 million. The projects are financed with ITS funds and are part of the Playa de Palma Global Action Plan.

The premises will be used as housing.

This week, the Historic Center Commission and the Urban Planning Department of Palma City Council approved a series of conversions of commercial and office space into residential use in different parts of the municipality.

On the one hand, the Historic Center Commission approved four projects involving the renovation of three office spaces for conversion into residential use on Carrer de la Escola Graduada; the renovation of an office space in Plaza de Santa Eulalia for conversion to residential use; the renovation of a space for residential use on Carrer Oms; and the renovation of two commercial spaces on Carrer Misión for the same purpose.

On the other hand, the Urban Planning Department has approved the granting of various licenses related to the change of use of commercial spaces to residential use in different neighborhoods of Palma, also in accordance with the provisions of the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU).

Specifically, these are the licenses for the renovation of offices for change of use to a residential building on Socors Street; the renovation and change of use of a commercial premises to a residential building on Santa Rita Street; the change of use from an office to a residential building on Agua Street; the change of use of two commercial premises to two residential buildings on Cardenal Rosell Street; the division and change of use of an office in two residential buildings on Oms Street (modification license); and the legalization of the change of use from a commercial premises to a residential building on Francesc Martí i Mora Street (occupancy and first use license).
