PalmThe municipality of Campos will have a mobile vehicle inspection station (ITV) starting mid-year, capable of carrying out around 5,000 inspections per month, with the aim of reducing the saturation of stations in the rural areas of the island. The President of the Council of Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, and the Mayor of Campos, Francisca Porquer, signed an agreement this Monday whereby the City Council grants the island institution free use of a 12,700-square-meter municipal plot of land to install the new station. The transfer will have an initial duration of four years, renewable. Once formalized, the Council of Mallorca will carry out the necessary paving and infrastructure work to house the mobile ITV station. According to a statement from the island institution, the works have a budget of 250,000 euros, which will be allocated to paving the site and installing electrical, water, and lighting systems.

These works are expected to be put out to tender in the coming weeks, with the aim of starting them in January or early February.

Once the site preparation is complete, Itevebasa, the company that holds the concession for the vehicle inspection service in Mallorca, will install a tent with four inspection lanes for light vehicles, both cars and motorcycles. The plot of land, provided by the Campos Town Council, is located between the municipal sports center and the Punt Verd (green point), in an area with good road access, which was key to its selection. Galmés argued that Campos is "the ideal location for installing a new vehicle inspection station," since the stations in the rural areas are the "most saturated." "It was a promise made during this legislative term, and now the first step is being taken, with the ultimate goal of providing the municipality of Campos and the surrounding towns, such as Llucmajor, Felanitx, Ses Salines, Santanyí, and Porreres, with a much more accessible and efficient permanent vehicle inspection service," he added. Council Investments in Campos

During his official visit to the municipality, the President of the Consell (Island Council) noted that the island institution has invested €6.8 million in Campos this legislative term to carry out projects in areas such as waste management, roads, public works, and service improvements. Specifically, the Department of Economic Promotion and Local Development has granted the municipality €520,000 through the Works and Services Plan (POST), in addition to €106,400 from the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (PAESC). For its part, the Department of Territory and Infrastructure is allocating a total of €1.7 million to Campos, of which €1.5 million will be dedicated to the construction of the roundabout leading to Colonia de Sant Jordi and Santanyí, scheduled for the first quarter of 2026, and €250,000 for preparing the site where the roundabout will be located. Also noteworthy are the €1.9 million from the Waste Management area for improvements to the transfer station; €519,349 from the water cycle agreement; €412,000 for sports facilities; €538,000 for social services; €956,000 for tourism investments; and €29,000 for heritage and culture.
