Cladera asks Galmés to "remove the urban amnesty" in the Tramuntana mountain range
The Socialist spokesperson referred to the law that allows the legalization of illegal constructions that were built before 1991.

The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) will present a motion at the plenary session of the Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council) to be held this Thursday, in which it will ask the island institution to commit "not to destroy Mallorca and not to lower the level of protection of the Tramuntana mountain range." This was explained by the Socialist spokesperson, Catalina Cladera, who has asked the president of the institution, Llorenç Galmés, to "remove the urban planning amnesty," referring to the Land Acquisition Law that the Government approved this week and which allows the legalization of illegal constructions in the Serra prior to 1991, the year in which the Law of Natural Spaces was approved.
Along the same lines, Cladera considered that the regulation is designed "by speculators and the rich who have come to destroy Mallorca" and showed the party's "total rejection" of the law. In the same sense, he asked Galmés to explain how he intends to promote a law that protects the Tramuntana mountain range "if this urban and economic attack is allowed."
For his part, the PP's deputy spokesperson, Bernat Vellori, has assured that the Serra "is more protected than ever" and has emphasized that "under no circumstances will it be possible to build even a foot more."
Regarding the urban planning situation, the Socialist spokesperson warned of "unsustainable overcrowding" and accused the Consell of allowing "the creation and reopening of tourist accommodation spaces." Similarly, she added that in 2024 and 2025, the island's governing team "has already approved the reactivation of 90,000 spaces that were planned to be depreciated and 500 new spaces in new buildings in Mallorca, which they are doing without initiating a single load study as required by law."
On the other hand, she publicly denounced the Consell's "inactivity" in terms of sanctions. "It was said that eight million euros had been collected in fines, but there have only been two. They are not closing any buildings with illegal tourist rentals, so they are not taking action."
Finally, Cladera addressed the Consell's mobility bill on vehicle entry restrictions and called for a "much more ambitious" strategy accompanied by real funding. "Above all, we support a sustainable mobility law that includes a real budgetary commitment."
The Socialist also lamented that the Consell's governing team has not invited the PSIB (Basque Socialist Workers' Party) to present proposals. "Galmés is not reaching a consensus, and I want to make it very clear to him that he should not confuse a meeting to present a proposal with a negotiation," she stated.
