PalmResidents of La Indioteria have denounced the "institutional neglect" they suffer in front of the shanty town located on Camino del Clot. They claim that drug sales are common, parties are held with loud music until well into the early hours of the morning, and illegal construction work has begun, dumping debris directly onto public roads and into the Gros torrent.

The president of the residents' association on Camino del Clot de la Indioteria asserts that this situation "has lasted more than three years," degrading coexistence and putting safety, public health, and the environment at risk. He explains that the conflict stems from property number 48 on Camino 140 in La Indioteria, which has been illegally divided into seven sections and rented to third parties.

Initially, these people settled in caravans, but over time they have built permanent structures without a license: houses, porches, they have installed a trailer, a boat, and even a bouncy castle for celebrations. "These clearly illegal activities have become a clandestine housing development that is growing out of control," he laments.

He also reports that every weekend parties are organized with music louder than a nightclub, which "seriously disrupts the residents' rest and quality of life." "Added to this is the constant flow of people coming to buy drugs, which turns the area into a point of sale and consumption," he adds.

He explains that the situation has worsened with the construction of a new house and the uncontrolled demolition of land in the surrounding area. "This not only constitutes a planning violation, but also poses a serious environmental and flooding risk in the event of heavy rains." To make matters worse, he claims that a company has drilled a well to extract water "without any authorization, once again violating multiple regulations."

Faced with this situation, the president and another neighbor appeared this Thursday at the Civil Guard barracks in Puente de Inca to file a formal complaint, but were referred to the National Police. Once they went to the force's offices on the Valldemossa road, the officers reportedly told them that "nothing was illegal," that "it wasn't serious enough to warrant filing a complaint," and that "everyone" knows "where the drugs come from." Due to the planning violations, they were referred to the Local Police, whom they also accuse of inaction.

"As a neighborhood community, we feel completely helpless. No one takes responsibility, each institution hides behind the jurisdiction of the other, and meanwhile, we neighbors are trapped in an unsustainable situation," they conclude.
