PalmFour days before the start of the school year, schools in the municipality of Selva are in unacceptable conditions, denounced El Pi Selva. According to the party's spokesperson, Joana Maria Coll, "it is outrageous that our children are starting the school year amid construction work, rubble, and facilities that do not meet minimum legal requirements. Meanwhile, we have new, adapted school spaces that would solve the problem. It is shameful and irresponsible." All of this, she added, is being done with "the complicity of the Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, and the inaction of the Selva City Council."

El Pi Selva explained that the Primary classes at the CEIP Es Putxet have been relocated to the Cultural Center, where this week work was carried out on the ground floor without moving teaching materials and with an accumulation of rubble. "They've had all summer and until this week they haven't done anything. These are not conditions for a school. What image do we project to teachers, families, and students?" she asked. "Two years ago, the mayor promised a new school, and today the reality is that Selva's children must study in undignified conditions," he stressed.

A center full of construction materials.

The situation "is even more serious" at the Es Roser municipal nursery school, which, according to the mayor's office, does not meet the regional government's requirements. "A year ago, we warned that it was unsustainable and proposed moving it to the Putxet Infant School building, renovated in 2012 and with enough space for the entire 0-6 stage. They didn't listen to us, and today we continue with the little ones in facilities that violate the law," she said.

The Pi Selva school also questions the government's decision to move the Caimari nursery school to the new CEIP Ses Deveres, which does not have adapted facilities, while the Cals Mestres nursery school did have modern and adapted facilities thanks to the investments that had been made. "How can a nursery school in perfect condition be closed and the Selva children remain in a space that does not meet any legal requirements?" she asked.

Primary school classes at CEIP Es Putxet have been moved to the Cultural Center, where work has been carried out on the ground floor this week.

"The children of Selva cannot be second-class. Education should be a priority, but we see that the government and the mayor are simply applying patches and wasting money while condemning our children to study in undignified conditions," concluded the spokesperson for El Pi Selva.
