PalmThe Palma City Council has reported that from this Tuesday, the number of Local Police officers will be increased in the queues that form at the Citizen Service Offices due to the large influx of people. They have also urged the Spanish government delegation to mobilize National Police officers in the same way. However, what the Martínez government does not plan to reinforce is the service of attention, given the avalanche of migrant people who come to the offices since the regularization process began.

In this regard, Cort points out that during these days there have been some episodes of nervousness and tension due to the collapse and cites a case at the OAC of Pere Garau. "This situation is a consequence of a measure promoted by the central government unilaterally, without planning, without resource allocation, and without coordination with local administrations, which are the ones on the front lines assuming all the consequences of the process," said the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez.

The first mayor of Cort has considered the statements of the Spanish government delegate, Alfonso Rodríguez, "unacceptable," calling on city councils to adapt their resources to deal with the requests for vulnerability certificates needed to regularize. "This transfer of responsibilities without resources is unmanageable," maintained Martínez, who has demanded the urgent adoption of the necessary measures for the Spanish government to directly assume the management of the process.

It should be remembered that civil servants, parties (PSIB and MÉS), and entities (EAPN) have all denounced on several occasions that various civil servants claimed to have received political instructions not to reinforce the service. Ninety service workers adhered to a statement issued last week lamenting that without reinforcements, "it will not be possible to respond" to all applicants "within the required deadlines." According to this group of public employees, the initial decision of the management team was to activate "staff reinforcement measures" to ensure the proper functioning of the system, although it later changed due to "political" decisions.

1,860 applications

The Palma City Council has registered 1,860 requests for vulnerability reports during the initial days of the extraordinary regularization process for migrants.

Everything indicates, Cort reported in a statement, that the volume of requests will continue to increase in the coming days and states that it "cannot assume this alone". Thus, the total number of people assisted at the OAC Social since last Wednesday amounts to 1,360, to which another 4,000 who have visited different municipal offices must be added. Likewise, the number of vulnerability report requests accumulated to date amounts to 1,860.
