PalmThe USO union held a demonstration this Tuesday outside the Ministry of Education to demand the reinstatement of frozen salaries in 2020 and 2021, as well as an island bonus. The majority union in private schools and for public religion teachers has demanded the signing of an agreement guaranteeing the reinstatement of the 2% salary in 2020 and the 0.9% salary in 2021, as well as the island bonus.

The organization recalled that the ruling by the High Court of the Balearic Islands (TSJIB) only declares the salary freeze on basic salaries for public employees in the Community to be inadmissible. Thus, it does not provide legal grounds for the reinstatement of these amounts to be applied to private sector workers and religion teachers. USO has thus urged the Ministry to convene the Sectoral Roundtable for the Private Sector to carry out the signing of the agreement.

The union has called on the current team at the Regional Ministry to review and improve the 2023-2027 agreement signed with the sector by the previous Government, which they consider insufficient.

The union has asked that the demands they have conveyed to the workers be taken into account, which include delegated pay for Administrative and Services Personnel (PAS) workers and teachers of children from 0-3 years old, and that permits, licenses and authorizations be equal to those of public professionals.

They also demand that the reduction of up to three hours of the working day be applied to teachers over 55 years of age in ordinary subsidized centers, and in Early Childhood and Special Education centers, as their counterparts in public schools, and that economic and job stability be provided to ATE staff.

They also demand that employees in state-funded education receive the same amounts for their six-year periods as their counterparts in the public sector and that a supplement equivalent to the Specific Autonomous Supplement for public sector employees be introduced.

The organization has also demanded that partial retirements be extended and that the current retirement agreement be implemented, and that insularity be equated with that of their counterparts in the public sector.
