PalmaThe entity Arrels Marines has received a citizen complaint within the framework of the #LaMarNoÉsTeva campaign, in which a user has recorded the daily overcrowding in a protected area of the Bay of Palma, near Cap Enderrocat, a space declared a marine reserve and integrated into the Natura 2000 Network as a Site of Community Importance (SCI).

The video shows dozens of people bathing in the sea while a tourist boat anchors in the area, but it is not the only one. According to the witness, during the morning, a dozen catamarans and swallow-type boats full of passengers were counted there, while in the afternoon there were still eight more.

The person who recorded the images denounces that many of these excursions take place with music at a very high volume and a party atmosphere that, according to them, "has nothing to do with the observation or respectful enjoyment of nature". They also assure that, in addition to commercial catamarans, private boats and even larger vessels access the area, some of which keep the music "at full blast".

Arrels Marines has disseminated material within the #LaMarNoÉsTeva campaign, an initiative that aims to make visible the pressures suffered by the marine ecosystems of the Balearic Islands due to mass tourism and certain recreational uses.
