Disinfect the Feixina after the National Nucleus demonstration: "Fascism never again"
The anti-fascist collective Mallorca has symbolically cleaned Palma park after the far-right event
PalmaThe anti-fascist group Mallorca has gone to La Feixina to disinfect it after the demonstration by Núcleo Nacional this Sunday. On their social media, they made a post showing members of the group dressed in PPE and with mops and disinfectant elements to clean the area where the ultra group demonstrated. A demonstration that was a total failure, as, in fact, there were more journalists covering the event than people demonstrating.
"Today we went out to disinfect La Feixina because it must be made clear that fascism has no space, be it 15, 50, or 300. However, we know that the true disinfection is the demolition of the fascist monolith," they explain in the social media post. Furthermore, they also denounce the "passivity" of the Palma City Council and the Government Delegation that "allow neo-Nazi acts." "Fascism never again!", they stated in the post.
It should be remembered that the demonstration called by a far-right group, Núcleo Nacional, at La Feixina ended up being an evident failure. The call, which intended to claim the Francoist monolith of the Baleares, evidenced the lack of real social support for this type of discourse, in a context marked by police and media presence rather than participants.
During the event, attendees accused institutions of "historical censorship" for initiatives to remove Francoist symbols. The reality on the street was blunt: minimal attendance and a deflated mobilization.
In parallel, the call generated a clear response of rejection from anti-fascist groups, who gathered to denounce the openly fascist nature of the initiative and to counter the normalization of these discourses in public spaces. The day thus ended marked by the symbolic confrontation between an ultraminority presence and a social response that evidenced its rejection.
On the other hand, it should also be noted that the criticism from the anti-fascist collective of Mallorca towards the political authorities (Palma City Council and the Spanish Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands) stems from the authorization of the concentration of the fascist group. In this case, the authorities excused themselves by stating that the National Police saw no indication of risk in the demonstration called by Núcleo Nacional in Palma.
