Education presents the draft of the new school enrollment regulations at the Sectoral Roundtable

The regulations affect all levels of Early Childhood Education, Primary, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Special Education.

PalmThe Ministry of Education and Universities has submitted to the Education Sectoral Board the draft order regulating the process of assignment, admission, and enrollment of students in educational centers supported wholly or partially with public funds.

The regulations affect all levels of Early Childhood Education, Primary, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, and Special Education and, as the Ministry stated in a press release, seeks to guarantee equitable, inclusive, and transparent schooling.

Furthermore, the objective is for schooling to respect the freedom of families to choose a school and ensure a balanced distribution of students with Specific Educational Support Needs (SESE). The draft presented develops Decree 43/2024 and incorporates measures to improve educational planning, vacancy management, online processing, and family participation. Likewise, sources from Antoni Vera's department emphasized that the creation of school enrollment committees is planned to ensure the smooth running of the process and territorial equity.

During Monday's meeting, the draft decree regulating the functions, structure, organization, composition, and operation of the Institute for the Evaluation and Quality of the Education System (IAQSE) was also presented, in addition to the draft decree establishing the organization and curriculum of adult secondary education. The documents will be presented this Tuesday at the Teachers' Roundtable and this Wednesday at the Private State-subsidized Education Roundtable, with the aim of gathering input from the various educational stakeholders before final approval.
