PalmaThe Mallorca Firefighters have declared extinguished this Friday at 7:15 PM the fire that broke out on Thursday morning in several warehouses in the Binissalem industrial estate. The fire required more than 40 hours of work from the emergency teams.

According to the fire department, the flames mainly affected three industrial warehouses: two belonging to a sports events company and a third dedicated to paper destruction.

The first units were dispatched to the scene around half past one on Thursday morning. Firefighters from the Inca, Alcúdia, and Manacor stations participated in the extinction efforts. Although the fire was controlled during the first few hours, the work to completely extinguish the flames lasted for almost two days.

One of the main difficulties encountered by the emergency teams was the partial collapse of the roof of the most affected warehouse. This situation prevented firefighters from accessing the interior of the building for safety reasons and forced the extinction efforts to continue from the outside. The fire caused no injuries and the registered damages are purely material. The causes that originated the fire are now being investigated.
