A fire burns an industrial ship in Binissalem and affects two more

PalmaThe Mallorca Firefighters continue working this Thursday on the extinction of a fire declared at dawn in a warehouse in the Binissalem industrial estate. The fire, which is already under control, has caused serious damage to a company dedicated to sports events and has slightly affected two adjacent warehouses.

The alert was received around one-thirty in the morning and efectivos from the Inca, Alcúdia, and Manacor stations were dispatched to the scene. According to Mallorca Firefighters, the extinction tasks could be extended throughout the day because there are still active hotspots inside the warehouse.

The most affected building stored plastic material, which has complicated the work of the emergency teams. The firefighters were initially able to access the interior, but the evolution of the flames and the collapse of the roof forced them to withdraw and continue their work from the outside.

The technician from Bombers de Mallorca, José Argandoña, explained that the strategy focused on containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to the adjacent warehouses. To do this, aerial ladders and extinguishing means were used from the outside of the building.

The two adjacent warehouses suffered minor damage, while the rest of the facilities on the same industrial island were affected by smoke. Despite the magnitude of the fire, the firefighters emphasized that at no point was there a risk of the flames reaching nearby agricultural land.

At midday, emergency teams continued to work to extinguish a high-intensity focus that still persisted inside the warehouse. For this reason, the Bombers de Mallorca anticipate that the extinguishing tasks will continue for the next few hours, although the situation remains under control.
