Carlos Veramendi, a former PP deputy in the Balearic Parliament, elected member of the Council of Mallorca, and city councilor in Palma, has died at the age of 62, as reported by the party's president in the Balearic Islands and leader of the Balearic government, Marga Prohens. Veramendi served as a deputy in the 7th legislature. A law graduate, he had been a civil servant in the Balearic Islands branch of the National Institute of Statistics since 1992. From 2003 to 2007, he was a member of the Council of Mallorca, where he served as deputy spokesperson, and from 2004 to 2011, he was the councilor for traffic and transport in the Palma City Council. In June 2011, he replaced Josep Ignasi Aguiló in his seat in the Balearic Parliament, where he held various internal positions, including president of the committee overseeing the Balearic Islands Radio and Television Corporation (IB3). "Shocked after receiving the news of his death," Prohens declared on social media, where she also described Veramendi as "a tireless, discreet worker, a party man, and always committed to his ideals and to the Balearic PP." The President of the Balearic Government also conveyed her condolences to the family and friends of the former deputy and stated that it is "a sad day for the Balearic PP family." "Commitment to public service"

The People's Party (PP) also issued a statement expressing deep regret over the death of its member, asserting that his career "was always marked by a commitment to public service and the defense of the interests" of the Balearic Islands. They emphasized that Veramendi was known for his work ethic, discretion, and unwavering defense of the PP's values. "His work and dedication leave a profound mark on the political sphere and also on his personal life, where he was always recognized for his character, loyalty, and dedication to public service," they added. "In these moments of grief, the PP of the Balearic Islands wishes to extend its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all his colleagues," they concluded.
