Hiker rescued after being trapped on the second highest peak of the Tramuntana mountain range
Mallorca firefighters carry out the first aerial intervention of the year at Peñón del Mediodía
PalmFirefighters in Mallorca rescued a 19-year-old man on Thursday who had become trapped while hiking on Peñón del Mediodía, the second highest peak in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. The hiker was caught off guard by the steepness and difficulty of the terrain and became stuck in a very inaccessible area. Unable to reach the ground, the air rescue operation was activated, with the Sa Milana helicopter transporting two rescuers to an area near the victim. From there, the rescue team was able to reach the young man and begin the rescue. Simultaneously, the helicopter picked up two more rescuers from the Sóller Fire Station, who joined the operation and assisted in bringing the hiker down to safety. The operation was successful, and the young man is in good health. This is the first operation of its kind carried out this year by the Sa Milana helicopter in the Tramuntana mountain range.
