Ibiza strengthens security at health centers during the summer due to the arrival of tourists.

Panic buttons will also be installed so that health workers can alert state security forces.

PalmThe Ibiza and Formentera Health Department has announced that it will double the security reinforcement at the Sant Antoni de Portmany and Vila health centers during the months of July and August.

According to reports released this Sunday, the Security Service at these two centers will be increased from 12 hours at night to 24 hours during July and August to meet current demand.

At the Santa Eulària Health Center, the number of months of increased security has been extended, from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.: it was brought forward to May and will continue until October, although in previous years it began in June and ended in September. This extension has also been implemented at two other centers with Primary Care Emergency Services (SUAP): the one in Sant Antoni and the one on Avenida 8 de Agosto in Ibiza.

The three SUAPs have attended to 32,465 cases at the beginning of the tourist season, with an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period last year, during which 31,666 emergencies were attended to.

By center, the emergency professionals at the Sant Antoni de Portmany center have attended to 11,039 cases in May and June, in Vila they have had 11,263 cases and in Santa Eulària 10,163 people received medical assistance.

In 2024, during these two months, Sant Antoni attended to 10,372 cases, 6.4% less than this year; In Ibiza, 11,428 cases were treated, 1.44% more than at the start of the 2025 season, and Santa Eulària des Riu recorded 9,866 medical consultations, 3% fewer than in May and June of this year.

The Health Department has explained that, to reinforce physical security, there will be other measures, such as the panic buttons in Primary Care centers, systems connected to security services and state law enforcement agencies.
