Interim teachers' revolt: they're collecting signatures "to demand accountability and an external audit of Education"
Through 'Change.org', professionals are protesting against errors in the awarding processes of the last two years.

PalmThe temporary teachers affected by the Education Department's failures in awarding contracts have taken a stand. Those affected, with the support of SIAU, have begun a petition through Change.org, to "demand accountability and an external audit from the Regional Ministry." The organizers are demanding "technical and political responsibility for the irregularities committed." They are also demanding "an external and independent audit to ensure transparency and fairness in the allocation of positions and an end to the institutional mistreatment suffered by temporary teachers in the Balearic Islands."
According to them, this year's interim teaching process has been an "absolute mess." "Irregularities, last-minute changes, lack of transparency, and completely chaotic management have generated deeply unfair situations for hundreds of interim teachers." The interim teachers indicate that this is "a systematic pattern of mistreatment of the teaching community by the educational administration, which goes in crescendo every year."
Awake in the middle of the night
They recall that last year they learned about the assignments in the early hours of the morning. "This year, the situation has been repeated and, what's more, it's worsened: more than 450 positions have been awarded based on criteria contrary to the principles of merit, objectivity, transparency, and equality. They haven't taken into account the teacher assessment system, and people with lower scores have surpassed others with much higher scores."
Alba Borrasc is one of the affected temporary teachers and has suffered all the situations described, both last year and this year. "I'm about to go to the police and file a complaint against the Regional Ministry. I think if I took it to court, I'd win," she explains to ARA Baleares. On Monday, before 5:00 PM, she had secured a position at the Mitjà de Mar Primary School, close to home, a position that made it easier for her to balance her family life. Hours later, the Regional Ministry removed her position, and now she has no place and no clear future. The victim addressed the Regional Ministry via Instagram in a message expressing her displeasure: "He's proud of his work, but I'd be ashamed," she said, among other things.
