PalmLucía Muñoz, Alejandra Martínez, Reyes Rigo, and three other Mallorcan activists who were aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla will return to Spain this Monday. The government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez, confirmed this after the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, announced that the 28 Spaniards who are in Israel will return to Spain in the coming hours. The six Mallorcans appear on this list of people who were still detained in an Israeli penitentiary.

Rodríguez explained that the flight is scheduled to land in Athens before continuing its journey to Spain. They are expected to arrive at Barajas Airport (Madrid) at midnight. In the case of the Mallorcan activists, they indicated that it is unknown whether they will be able to travel to Mallorca during the early hours or if they will have to stay in Madrid and return this Tuesday.

Podemos Baleares spokesperson Jesús Jurado has demanded that the Spanish government "do everything possible" to ensure that the activists "can be reunited with their families as soon as possible and that their peace of mind, safety, and well-being are guaranteed after days of kidnapping."

It should be remembered that Lucía Muñoz and Alejandra Martínez did not return on the first deportation flight after refusing to sign the voluntary deportation document. The activists refused to sign any document that would imply recognizing that they entered Israel illegally, since they argued that their action "is part of the defense of the Palestinian people through peaceful and humanitarian means."

At that time, Podemos recalled that, before being intercepted, both had already stated that they would not sign any document that would make them recognize an illegal entry into the state. The decision of both means they will be detained in Israel for several more days, awaiting their appearance before a judge who must ratify their forced deportation, the party explained. Furthermore, Podemos has confirmed that Alejandra Martínez has been on a hunger strike since the boat was attacked, after declaring that "she would not accept food from someone who starves the Palestinian people."

Finally, Podemos Baleares has reported that, according to lawyer Jaume Asens, a representative of the flotilla, "the families of the detainees regret that communication with consular services has left much to be desired and," Asens added, "they feel that they receive their information through the press."

However, the hunger strike has spread to other cells, where other members of the Humanitarian Flotilla have joined, while day after day the streets around the world continue to protest against the genocide.

French MEP Emma Fourreau, Belgian lawyer and Vice President of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), Alexis Deswaef, and activist Latifa Gharbaoui are among those who have decided to take this action as an act of solidarity with the population.
