Organized by the unions CSIF, SPPME, UGT, and CCOO, police officers asserted that Palma "needs" the urban development plan and criticized Mayor Jaime Martínez, stating that "what he promised, he never kept." They also displayed signs declaring that "promises don't patrol," accusing the mayor of being a "con artist," and ironically using the slogan "Nyaps Martínez, SL." Agustí Sánchez, the CSIF representative in the Palma City Council, stated that Palma's police officers are "very angry" with Martínez because "he has repeatedly broken his promises" regarding the urban development plan. "This demonstrates that he hasn't been able to lead a very important project for the city. In the almost three years of this term, the Palma Local Police remain in the same situation and feel completely deceived," he pointed out.

However, officers have stated that the Palma Local Police are "disappointed and angry" with the mayor and his administration for the lack of progress in implementing the new organizational plan for the force. Sánchez expressed this sentiment, indicating that the demonstration is intended to make the mayor aware of the discontent within the force. "We won't believe it until we see the plan in action," he warned.

Sánchez also denounced the complete lack of communication from the municipal government and asserted that neither the mayor nor any member of his team had contacted representatives of the Local Police to offer any solutions. "We are here to demand compliance with the urban development plan," he emphasized, insisting that the police force "is not a whim," but an essential service for the city. Regarding the urban development plan, Sánchez stated that "it involves modernizing an institution that has had the same organizational structure for 15 years and offers no solutions to Palma's problems." "It is true that there will be new police officers, but without an efficient organization, it is pointless to have 170 new agents," he stressed. However, the CSIF representative highlighted that, in these 15 years, the city has evolved "significantly" and there is more activity on weekends, which means that officers cannot fulfill their duties and obligations due to organizational deficiencies.

Finally, the union representative revealed that the mayor informed them on December 5th that the plan would not be implemented, without specifying the reasons. Given this situation, Sánchez stated that the City Council "either doesn't want to implement it or doesn't know how," and added that "words are useless without action."

Negotiations stalled

The Palma Local Police unions assert that negotiations with the City Council remain "completely stalled" and that they have received "no communication" from the municipal government. According to Sánchez, the urban planning scheme was supposed to be implemented on January 1st, and today, January 29th, they believe they "have had ample time" to do so. "The delays are nothing more than excuses," he declared.
