"Mallehaters go home": the German song that attacks 'Ballermann 6' tourism

PalmaA controversial song, in a tone of humor and protest, has been the response from the Germans Honk! and Der Partycrasher against the protests regarding the typical tourism of Ballermann 6, where the street of Ham is located, an area linked to German party and binge-drinking tourism. The title, Mallehater go home, is already a clear statement of intent. The song mixes two concepts: on one hand, the slogan 'go home' and, on the other, 'Malle', the colloquial way in which part of German society refers to Mallorca.

In a few words, both the title and the tune of the song essentially say that those who should leave the Balearic Islands are the people who hate Malle tourism. 'Malle' is a term from German tourist slang to refer to the island and is often linked to the imagery of a tourism model based on excess and permanent partying.

The first stanza of the song reproduces comments that tourists from Mallorca receive in Germany: "Ballermann is only for antisocials", "Here everyone is radical", "Only idiots are in Mallorca". The song strikes out against these statements, vindicating this type of tourism.

The artists have already recorded several videos with signs where, accompanied by a hand showing the middle finger, they reinforce their message again: "Those who hate German tourism are the ones who must leave the Balearic Islands".

On the other hand, the producers of the track have explained that they respect the right of Mallorca's residents to demand responsible tourism and consider it fundamental that rules and coexistence on the island are respected.

Ballermann 6 is the popular and Germanized name for Balneari number 6 on the Platja de Palma, famous for being the epicenter of party tourism, especially among German visitors.
