PalmaThe Consell de Mallorca will present the 2026 Awards, Honors, and Distinctions on September 12 at the Principal Theatre in Palma, in a gala where actor Michael Douglas will be named Adoptive Son of Mallorca and singers Rels B and Concha Buika will be honored as Favorite Sons.

The island councilor for the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, announced this Thursday the list of individuals and entities that will receive the highest recognitions from the island institution. In addition to the honorary appointments, the Consell will present 27 distinctions, nine Jaume II awards, and 15 gold medals.

“Mallorca is what it is thanks to its people and the people who have loved the island as their own and have contributed to its growth. These are individuals and entities who proudly say they are Mallorcans and carry their name around the world, each in their own field,” Fuster stated.

Among the individuals and groups recognized this year are also the Encesa pels Drets Humans initiative, athlete Isabel Calero, the entity Asnimo, former politician Pere Sampol and Antònia Matamalas –the latter two posthumously–, in addition to singer-songwriter Tomeu Penya and the iconic Bar Bosch, among others.
