More than 1,500 tourist spots will go on sale in Mallorca starting in September.
The Consell intends to hold three public calls, the first in September and the other two in January and May, with a price per place of approximately 3,500 euros.

PalmA total of 1,570 tourist accommodation spaces, including those for vacation rentals, hotel establishments, and hotels in listed buildings, will go on sale starting in September in Mallorca. All are part of the two temporary pools created by the Consell de Consell de Alojamientos Turísticos (CBAT), under the authority of the Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council), following the Government's approval of the tourism containment decree. Both pools, according to Europa Press, are filled with vacancies that have been closed since the regulations were approved, either ex officio or voluntarily. The Consell de Mallorca intends to hold three public calls for applications, the first in September and the other two in January and May, with a price per space of approximately €3,500.
However, there is also the possibility of exchanging spaces between individuals without going through the pools. In these cases the price would be set by the market, although the legality of the transactions must be verified by the island institution.
The opposition has criticized this measure, since they consider that it eliminates de facto The moratorium on tourist accommodations initiated during the last legislative sessions.
Vacation rentals, hotels, and BIC buildings
According to the information published by the CBAT on its website, the spaces will go on sale gradually starting September 1st. The first to go on sale that same day will be the 654 vacation rental properties, which must meet the conditions established in current legislation for submitting the corresponding Declaration of Responsibility for the Commencement of Tourism Activity (DRIAT).
This declaration must be submitted to the Tourism Planning Service of the Mallorca Council within three months of receiving the certificate of acquisition of the spaces. If this is not the case, the spaces will be automatically returned to the pool.
They can be purchased by both individuals and legal entities that intend to market a property as a vacation rental or expand the spaces in a property that was previously marketed. The acquired spaces may only be transferred to a third party after five years.
Although spaces will be allocated strictly in order of entry registration—provided they meet the requirements—priority will be given to those applications in which the buyer can prove ownership of the property within the last three years, with the exception of those inherited.
On September 16, it will be the turn of the 416 spaces that make up the temporary pool for tourist accommodation establishments, which will be subject to practically the same conditions as vacation rentals.
Between these two dates, on September 9, 500 spaces will go on sale for tourist establishments located in listed buildings or declared Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC).
