PalmA total of 42 lawyers from the Balearic Islands have signed a document denouncing the genocide being perpetrated in Gaza with the passivity and complicity of the international community. The lawyers warned that "the de facto repeal of the norms of international law that until recently had been the foundation upon which global order and stability were based" is occurring.

"We cannot and do not want to ignore that these regrettable events can lead us dangerously to a scenario of a world without rules and, therefore, to a context of uncertainty, insecurity and distrust that opens the door to the arbitrary exercise of authority," which represents, in their opinion, "human."

The lawyers signing the document have asked representatives in the institutions for a firm commitment to the reestablishment of "a normative framework in which moral, ethical and humanitarian principles are always prioritized over interests, and in the current case of genocide that can be perpetrated with impunity in Gaza, those interests of the genocidal state."

At the same time, they urge Spain and the European Union to "go beyond the rhetoric of words" and adopt the measures within their reach to put an end to the genocide, to restore peace and to provide the aid that the Palestinian people need "until they are consolidated as a sovereign, free and independent state."

The lawyers have rejected the tolerance shown by the international community and especially by the European institutions with the massacre perpetrated by Israel. "It shows that unfortunately, those decisions of international order that should be adopted with criteria of justice and respect for human rights, when it comes down to it, are resolved by prevailing above all else the economic interests of large corporations and the powerful." lobbies, the boundless greed of those who have no scruples when it comes to conditioning even world stability, or at least, turning a good as precious as peace into a simple currency in commercial transactions."
