Orange alert for heat in the interior of Mallorca and yellow in the rest of the Islands

PalmaThe Balearic Islands continue this Tuesday on alert for high temperatures, at orange level in central Mallorca, where they could reach 39 degrees, and yellow in the rest of the Archipelago. During the central hours of the day, a maximum of 36 degrees will be recorded in Ibiza, Formentera and Menorca, and 38 in the south, east, northeast and the Serra de Tramuntana of Mallorca.

On Monday, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had already declared the interior of Mallorca on orange alert for a maximum temperature of 40 degrees during the central hours of the day, the same level of warning as in the northeast of the island, where the maximums will be around 39 degrees. In the rest of the Archipelago, Aemet's alert is yellow for heat, with temperatures reaching an average of 36 degrees.

The heatwave that starts this Tuesday in Spain keeps six other autonomous communities – Andalusia, Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community – on orange alert (significant danger) for a maximum temperature that could reach or exceed 41 degrees, reports Aemet.

Regarding the weather in general, in the Balearic Islands there will be intervals of medium-high clouds, thicker in the morning, and more scattered in the afternoon. Light north-northeasterly winds will cause a slight drop in temperature, especially in northern Mallorca. As on previous days, high humidity will increase the sensation of heat.

The Fire Danger Index forecast for this Tuesday reaches very high values in Mallorca.

With the orange alert there is significant meteorological risk, with a certain degree of danger for usual activities, and with the yellow alert there is no meteorological risk for the general population, although there is for some specific activity.
