Palma's 2026 Carnival: check here for schedules, activities and performances
The Rueta program will take place this Sunday, February 8, and will feature more than 33 free activities spread across eight locations in the city center.
PalmThe Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Citizen Participation, Lourdes Roca, presented the program for the 2026 Carnival in Palma this Wednesday, which includes the Rueta parade this Sunday, February 8, and Sa Rua on February 15. During her presentation, the Councillor highlighted the official posters for Sa Rua and Rueta, winners of the municipal competition and selected by a jury made up of members of Palma's Children and Adolescents Council.
The posters were designed by Fernando Guzmán Gómez in the Rua category and Aina Moreno Barceló in the Rueta category. Roca emphasized that "for the City Council, Carnival is an ideal celebration to foster artistic creation and, above all, because of its strong citizen participation," and reminded everyone that it is a festival made possible by the residents themselves with their costumes, creativity, and original themes.
More than 33 activities along the Rueta
The Rueta program, dedicated especially to children and families, will take place this Sunday, February 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will have more than 33 free activities spread across eight spaces in the city center.
In Cort Square you can enjoy a mini-disco, aface in holeand face painting and mask-making workshops, while on Colón Street the public can attend the parade 'The Great Classical Circus', with performances at 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.
The Plaza Mayor will host face painting workshops, circus and aerial acrobatics shows, ecological easels and a children's corner.
Mask-making and face-painting workshops will also be held on the Rambla, in addition to a storytelling space with the show 'La Tina invites you to fly', with performances at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
In this same space, the activity 'King Carnival Says' will take place at 12:30 pm, 1:00 pm, and 1:30 pm. A clown area will also be set up, featuring the show We'll all laugh, at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and the performances of Clown Sabatot, at 12:30 p.m., 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
In addition, there will be another face painting workshop, and a space dedicated to magic with the show. The Magic Book, with shows at 11:00 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., plus an animated catwalk.
Sessions adapted with sign language
It is worth noting that all shows will have sessions adapted with sign language, with the aim of guaranteeing accessibility and inclusion for all children and their families.
The 'Pintam en tierra' workshop will be set up on Riera street, while on Unió street and in Mercat square there will be animated characters, the Drac de na Coca, another 'Pintam en tierra' workshop and a children's corner.
King Juan Carlos I Square will feature the traditional EMT bus, Emaya recycling workshops, and musical entertainment, with performances by 'Miel y Sucre' at 11:00 and 11:45 a.m., and the show Now the Fairy Sings Grunge, at 12:35 and 13:20 h.
Finally, on the Born promenade there will be other face painting and mask-making workshops, community games, a circus area and a parade that will travel along the promenade at 11:35, 12:20 and 13:05 h.
What will the Rúa be like?
The Rua parade will take place next Sunday, February 15, starting at 5 p.m. The parade will travel through some of the city's most emblematic locations, beginning on the Rambla and continuing along Carrer de la Riera, Carrer de la Unió, Plaça del Rei Juan Carlos I, and Avinguda de Jaume III. At the end of the parade, a concert and awards ceremony will be held in Plaça del Rei Juan Carlos I.
The competition offers a total of €2,800 in prizes distributed across eight categories. In the float category, four prizes of €450 each will be awarded – for the most elaborate float, the most politically charged float, the most original float, and the most lively float. In the group category, four prizes of €250 will be awarded in the same categories.
The registration period to participate in the 2026 Parade is open until February 12th, so the councilor has encouraged all those interested to register and participate, trusting that this year there will again be a high participation, as in the previous edition, in which record figures were achieved with 9 floats and 34.
The deputy mayor also highlighted that the operation will include special cleaning and security services, expressing her gratitude for the work of the security forces, municipal services, and Civil Protection volunteers.
The budget allocated to the set of activities of the Rueta and the Rua amounts to more than 50,000 euros this year, VAT included.
