PalmaPalma will mobilize again this Friday, October 9, in support of Palestine. Plaça d'Espanya will host a new protest starting at 7 p.m. against the war in Gaza and to denounce the continuation of Israeli attacks, in a call that will coincide with the housing encampment that has been held in this same space for days.

The organizers consider that the situation in Palestine has not ceased to be an emergency despite the announcement of a ceasefire and denounce what they describe as a "media silence" and complicity of the institutions and large economic monopolies. The protest arrives, furthermore, in the middle of a week in which Plaça d'Espanya has become one of the main points of social mobilization in Palma, with demands for the right to housing as its focus.

According to the data released by the organizers, since October 2025, Israeli attacks have reportedly caused 1,421 deaths and 4,983 injuries in Gaza, while 834 bodies have reportedly been recovered from the bombings prior to the negotiations. The organizers also warn of the rise in violence in the occupied West Bank and point out that the conflict has also left hundreds of dead and injured in Yemen and Lebanon. The protest aims to go beyond the situation in Gaza and claim that the consequences of the conflict are also being felt, according to the organizers, in European societies. In the call's manifesto, they denounce the "militarization" of society, cuts to essential services such as healthcare and education, and the rising cost of living.

The organizers also warn about the normalization of discourses they describe as "racist, authoritarian, Islamophobic, and colonialist." The manifesto links this trend to episodes of violence against migrants and police actions against social movements in different parts of the State. "What we allow in Palestine returns here," argue the organizers, who consider Israel "the testing ground for Western fascism." With this approach, Friday's protest aims to keep Palestine on the agenda of social mobilization in Palma and occupy the streets once again despite the change in scenario caused by the announcement of the ceasefire.
