Residents of Pere Garau warn of a wave of robberies of cars in the neighborhood
The platform Flipau amb Pere Garau says that the V16 signaling beacons have become one of the key vectors in robberies
PalmaThe residents of Pere Garau have alerted to a wave of vehicle thefts in the neighborhood, in particular, and in Palma in general. As they criticize, this situation particularly affects working people who cannot afford the cost of renting a parking space for more than 120 euros per month. Therefore, the platform Flipau amb Pere Garau continues with the campaign to reduce the possibility of robberies.
Entity sources explain that the V16 signaling beacons –mandatory since January 1st– have become one of the key vectors in thefts and recommend noting and keeping the identification number (IMEI), since the beacons are geolocated. They also recommend not leaving anything in sight, leaving the glove compartment open and empty, and reporting any incident to the Police so that they can take fingerprints on site for the investigation. They also ask not to acquire beacons on the second-hand market.
On the other hand, the entity requests to reinforce police surveillance for the most populated neighborhood in Palma.
