Residents of Port d'Andratx denounce "the hell" of the works on the mountain: "It is an environmental attack"

Residents report noise from heavy machinery

PalmaThe residents of Port d'Andratx denounce the strong landscape and environmental impact of a large excavation that is being carried out on the mountain in the area and which, they claim, has forced them to live with the noise of heavy machinery for years. The residents describe the situation as an "environmental attack" and an "authentic hell" and demand explanations regarding the purpose of the works.

According to the neighborhood complaint, five machines usually work from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 6 pm, while on Saturdays they work until 2 pm. "Day after day, week after week, year after year, without mercy, without respite," lament the residents, who assert that the noise and the impact of the works have turned the situation into a problem of noise pollution for the surrounding homes.

In a publication made in La Voz de Andratx, in June of this year, the residents also criticize that the work has stopped during the months of July and August and maintain that this would respond to the desire not to disturb the tourists who visit the area. "Because many of the foreign residents are leaving," they claim. Faced with this situation, they demand to know what the project is that justifies the excavation, what the final dimension of the action will be, and "until when" the drilling will continue.
