In serious condition a tourist who has drowned at a beach in Peguera

PalmaAn 87-year-old Swiss tourist has been hospitalized in very serious condition after drowning this Thursday while swimming at the Romana beach, in Peguera (Calvià).

The incident took place around 3:15 p.m., according to information from SAMU 061. The man was swimming in the sea when, for reasons still unknown, he suffered a drowning.

Lifeguards pulled him out of the water and confirmed that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Immediately, they performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of the 061 health workers, who continued the resuscitation efforts.

Emergency teams managed to recover his pulse. Subsequently, they transferred him by ambulance to the Miramar Polyclinic, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with a very serious prognosis.
