Those affected by the Sa Pobla railway route are asking the City Council for a project without expropriations.
They say it is better to take the tram route around the ring road, both on the surface and underground.
PalmThe "Save Sa Marjal" platform has reported that the Balearic Government has launched a new route for the train that will connect Sa Pobla and Alcúdia. This, they explained in a post on their Facebook account, would not involve expropriations, as the route would run through public land.
However, this new option will not even be officially studied by the General Directorate of Mobility if the Sa Pobla City Council does not formally request it. Therefore, sources from the platform have demanded that the Sa Pobla council formally request that this option of tram use along the ring road, both above ground and underground, also be studied. According to them, this option is the best solution proposed so far to prevent the new train line from having an environmental impact and the need to expropriate several agricultural areas in the municipality.
In this regard, they assert that although some claim this option would not be viable due to "operational complexity," "today there are technical solutions that can resolve the negative impacts in the event of a breakdown or accident."
However, they emphasize that this is "an option with a much smaller impact on the territory and should be considered before making any final decisions." "Our platform will continue to advocate for solutions that respect the territory, agriculture, the countryside, and those who work it," they concluded.
