The judge releases the young man who ran over Jaume Anglada and fled
The accused has posted bail of 5,000 euros.
PalmThe Provincial Court of Palma has released the 20-year-old young man who He ran over the Mallorcan singer Jaume Anglada and fled the scene. Legal sources explained that the judge granted the appeal filed by the accused's lawyer, Pablo Juanico, and released him on bail after paying 5,000 euros.
The young man was in the provisional imprisonment from the day of the accident, on August 8, after admitting responsibility for the incident before the court on duty. He also apologized and expressed regret for what had happened.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 8th at number 330 Avenida Joan Miró in Palma, in the Cala Major area. According to the investigation carried out by the Local Police, the young man was driving under the influence of alcohol—three times the maximum permitted limit—when he hit the motorcycle Anglada was riding and fled.
It should be noted that, according to several witnesses to the incident, the driver of the car made an illegal maneuver and collided with the singer. Faced with this situation, the driver decided to flee the area, but neighbors who were walking by the scene of the accident took the license plate number and provided it to the Palma Local Police.
Hours later, officers managed to identify and locate the driver and arrested him. The officers found the young man at his home.
Due to his extremely serious injuries, the artist was immediately transferred to Son Espases University Hospital, where he remains. Last Tuesday, according to the latest medical report, he left the ICU and was transferred to the ward.
