The number of people arriving in the Balearic Islands on 16 boats has risen to 257.
The last boat located was in the south of Mallorca this Wednesday afternoon.

PalmMaritime Rescue and agents from the Guardia Civil's maritime service intercepted 20 people on a small boat half a mile south of Mallorca this Wednesday afternoon. This brings the total number of boats arriving in the Balearic Islands this day to 16, with 257 people on board. The incident occurred in the area of Cape Falcó, on the island of Cabrera, 0.5 miles south of Mallorca, at around 1:20 p.m., according to Efe. During this Wednesday, eight small boats arrived in Formentera (with 138 migrants on board), six at different points in the Cabrera archipelago (with 110 people), and two in southern Mallorca (with nine people in total).
Since the beginning of the week, these 16 new boats are added to the 16 located on Tuesday in the Islands, with 305 people on board, and the seven that arrived on Monday, with 97 people.
The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands enabled different spaces in the ports of Palma, Ibiza and La Savina (Formentera) on Tuesday to temporarily accommodate migrants and guarantee adequate humanitarian assistance.
More than 4,200 migrants in boats arrived in the Balearic Islands
So far this year, at least 4,235 people have arrived in the islands on 226 boats, according to an Efe tally based on information provided by the Spanish Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands. In 2024, 5,882 migrants arrived in the archipelago by sea, according to the Ministry of the Interior's Annual National Security Report.
