The 2026/2027 season of the Teatre Principal's programming will feature seven co-productions with island companies. The evaluation committee, which met on July 8th, selected the stage proposals that will be brought to life in co-production with the Teatre Principal de Palma from the forty that were submitted to the call. These include two family co-productions: Nest, by Irene Soler and Catalina Florit for early childhood; and Branch, from Oasi Teatre with a circus proposal and four theatrical co-productions: This is not a romantic comedy, from El Somni Produccions and Pau Pascual; Portrait, from the Banana-Ros Collective; Res non Verba, from Produccions de Ferro i Mea Culpa; and Linet, by Posada Produccions i Turye SL; and a co-production of staged music: Pierrot Lunaire, from Ensemble Espai Sonor.
The evaluation committee, made up of sector members and cultural technicians, declared the dance lines empty "given that the proposals submitted do not align with the objectives or strategic criteria of the call." Likewise, the committee unanimously decided to award a special mention to the project The lady, by Dani and Marc Torres.
Nest, which will premiere next November, is a proposal aimed at early childhood audiences, exploring the vital concept of "making a nest" through nature observation. It is a creation by Irene Soler and Catalina Florit.
This is not a romantic comedy, from El Somni i Pau Pascual, will premiere in December, and it is a play conceived as a romantic comedy but one that shuns clichés to talk about pain, healing, and love.
Ram by Oasi Teatre, Ibiza, scheduled for February 2027, is a reflection on tradition, community, and respect for the natural environment through a metaphor about a solitary shepherd and his flock in a multidisciplinary production combining physical theatre, circus, live music, and object manipulation.
Portrait, from the Banana-Ros Collective, which will see the light of day in March 2027, is a piece of documentary theatre directed by José Martret and performed by Pedro Mas and Joana Castell about the internal migration of the 60s through a woman who travels from Burgos to Mallorca.
Pierrot Lunaire, from Ensemble Espai Sonor, will arrive next April and is a reinterpretation of Arnold Schoenberg's famous contemporary opera, which will feature stage direction by Caterina Alorda; musical direction by Albert Díaz and Tomeu Moll-Mas; video scenography by Miquel Àngel Raió; and the voice of soprano Irene Mas.
Nothing is said, by Produccions de Ferro and Mea Culpa is a text by David Mataró that poses a fundamental ethical dilemma about truth, "fake news" and the responsibility of the press. Directed by Albert Boronat, it features actors such as Xisco Segura and Agnès Llobet. It is scheduled for May 2027.
Linet, by Posada Produccions and Turye SL, will arrive next summer and is a hybrid performance where text theatre is mixed with live music, electroacoustics and audiovisuals. Mateu Malondra is responsible for this production which imagines a fictional encounter in 1975 Barcelona between Damià Huguet, Blai Bonet and Pier Paolo Pasolini.
The director of the Principal, Miquel Martorell, values the choice: “we are very satisfied with the selection as the proposals are varied, with solvent producers and creators and with high-quality artistic teams; furthermore, two of the proposals come from our creation support projects”.
