The water gives a truce to Mallorca and Ibiza, but Emergencies maintains the alert for storms

The most intense rainfall of the early morning has discharged over the sea, but new episodes of up to 60 litres per hour are expected

PalmaThe rain has given a respite to Mallorca and Ibiza after a dawn of intense storms, the bulk of which discharged over the sea and did not cause any notable incidents. This was explained this Friday by the head of Emergencies, Aurelio Soto, after the meeting of the technical advisory committee.

Even so, Emergencies maintains the alert due to the possibility of new storms. The models forecast precipitation between Mallorca and Ibiza that could also affect land, with records of between 40 and 50 liters per hour and peaks of up to 60 liters until midday.

Aemet maintains the orange warning in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera until 12:00 PM. From this moment until 6:00 PM, the warning will change to yellow, with rainfall that could reach 20 litres per hour.

Emergency services have warned that the storms will not be accompanied by strong winds, but they will be accompanied by intense electrical activity. Furthermore, Soto has warned that the rainfall, even if moderate, could cause urban flooding, traffic disruptions, and the falling of trees and urban elements.
