According to a statement released by Jóvenes de Mallorca por la Lengua (Youth of Mallorca for the Language) this Thursday, various organizations will march through the center of Palma under the slogan "Youth organized for Catalan, for culture, for Mallorca." They emphasized that the language "is what unites Mallorcans" and asserted the need for it to continue being a "tool for cohesion." They also called on the Consell de Mallorca (Island Council of Mallorca) to reinstate December 31st as the official date for the Diada (National Day of Mallorca), arguing that the celebration on September 12th represents a "loss of cultural identity."
