PalmPalma will implement traffic restrictions in the city center this Saturday, January 10, to mark the start of the San Sebastián 2026 festivities. The closures will affect several streets around the Plaza de Cort, where the traditional opening ceremony of the festivities will take place, with the aim of ensuring the safety of attendees.

According to the City Council, traffic restrictions will be in place between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM, coinciding with official events and large crowds in the historic center.

Streets closed to traffic in Palma this Saturday

During this time period, the passage of vehicles to the following streets will be prohibited:

  • Calle del Conquistador, in the direction of Plaza de Cort.
  • Chain Street.

These traffic disruptions in the Plaza de Cort area will also take place from 13.00 to 22.00, on the occasion of the celebration of Plague Day.

In addition, ACIRE access points via Cadena and Tous y Maroto streets will be temporarily closed, meaning neither residents nor authorized vehicles will be able to access the area while the restrictions are in place.

Detours to EMT and TIB

Traffic disruptions in Palma city center will also affect public transport. Diversions are planned for several EMT and TIB bus lines that normally run through this area. The City Council recommends checking the official websites and apps of the operators for alternative routes and possible changes to bus stops.

Recommendations for citizens

The City Council asks citizens to plan their journeys in advance, use public transport whenever possible, and respect the temporary signage installed in the city center. The San Sebastián festival marks the start of a busy festive calendar in Palma, which in the coming days will bring further temporary disruptions to traffic and urban mobility.
